The New (and freqently) Updated Blog on Tumblr

Things change. Google Blogger has failed to impress me as my favorite blogging platform. Since 2011, I have explored and tried several services for both blogging and micro-blogging, namely Twitter, Google Plus, Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, Wordpress, Wix, and thousands of them alike. Tumblr was one of them, but I quickly left Tumblr because back then I was very satisfied with the performance Blogger had offered. But I don't know why, Google has failed several of its services including Blogger and many users are porting their respective blogs to Wordpress. This left the Blogger community in the dark days. Sometimes there's no traffic at all and daily robot spamming was in its peak. After all these years between many micro-blogging social media, I have decided to switch back to Tumblr as the simplest blogging platform, after my "I had enough of this" on Twitter's 140 char limit.

It's been two years since I started writing on Tumblr (or click the picture of my blog stamp above) in 2013. And it's going great. Recently for the past months I decided that I need some time to fill in my loneliness in this alien, super metropolitan city days—I moved from my sleepy town of Malang to Surabaya—and I begin to write more to kill the time. My post are sometimes in English but the majority is still in Bahasa Indonesia. The blog has been and will be covering themes on art and culture, general science, technology, political and economic satire, and mostly my love life. Thus the preserved blog name, "Money or Love?" and the brand new stamp entitled "artscitek" I created back on 2012. Thanks to Tumblr, the posts be differ in structure: simple posts, chat excerpts, music, video, or quotes. Sometimes I alternate my posts in these available forms.  If you want to receive regular updates on my blog please click this RSS Feeds XML link.

The Future of Touchscreen Technology

Nowadays, people are busy with their own business and activities, and some of them can be such a waste of time. The development of technology answers them by creating new innovations: TOUCHSCREEN. It first began as simple and weird panel in 1971 in Sam Hurst's workbench, University of Kentucky.

Touch screen, touch panel or completely touchscreen panel is a computer input device which works when its surfaces being touched by a finger or a pen. Touchscreen interface, in which users operate the computer system by touching pictures and texts it's own screen, is the easiest way to use a computer by now, and now there are many computer and phone devices manufacturer already decided to mount the touchscreen interface system into their products. Moreover, it is a must for software programmers and developers to build a software that will compatible with this invention, considering many people now are using the touchscreen technology.

Touchscreen firstly intended to be used in manufacture industry because of its accuracy, touch sensitivity, and high durability. But now touchscreen devices can be found everywhere around our lives, and its planted in almost every mass-production high technology, newest gadgets like notebooks, laptop computers, tablet computers, music players, cellphones, even in the future, can be seen on the floor, up the wall, blinking tables, and bleeping windows. This "crazy" matter here, can be done because the touch panel can be made in various size and thickness.

Touchscreen are a common in many public places, such like the information kiosk in the stations and ports. Some touchscreen system are available as monitor with built-in touch sensor capability and already have high-sensitivity. But some of them comes as touchscreen kit, which are more cheap and effective, planted on a simple common monitor without built-in sensor on it. In this case, the touchscreen act twice, as input device and so as output device.

Touchscreen sensor components consist as follows:

 1. touchscreen sensor panel, located on the outer part of the interface, generates some kind of electrical jumps based where it detects any touches.

2. touchscreen controller, processes the signal received from sensor panel, transcribe them into touch data and sends them to the central processor.

3. driver and software, translates touch data into input data (just like mouse), enabling the sensor panel to work as a "mouse", and serves the user interface application.

Pfauth and Priest (1981) describe the benefit and side effects of touchscreen panel, as follows:

Positive effect
 Direct control between the user's eyes and user's touches (the panel as input and screen as output, so it serves as input and output)
 Faster capability to insert command and watch over them.
 Simple using and don't need any training manual
 Displays only valid and possible options.
 Easy and user friendly
 The user(s) don't need to memorize much of their actions (because it's faster!)

Negative effects
 Expensive (at that time, it was so difficult to develop new inventions)
 It takes more time to develop program to be compatible with
 Less flexible on some input actions
 Malfunction of user interface can lead to error commands
 The exhausted feeling because the user always need to see the screen (mind the radiations ;))
 While used, fingers may cover the screen.
 New software and drivers needed to support the panel.

I found this video on Youtube, Imagine the future world, full of touchscreen, from the kitchen until the toilet!

OMG, DID THEY FORGOT TO PAY THE ELECTRICITY BILLS? hehehehe.. :D

The Conscience of a Hacker

Godlike hacker "The Mentor" wrote this popular and
worldwide writings after he had arrested.
These words, also known as "THE HACKER'S MANIFESTO" has
become the bible of all hackers worldwide till nowadays.
I copied the file from "Phrack" e-mag and re-post them here.

So, enjoy and h4x0r greets.

Another one got caught today, it's all over the papers. "Teenager
Arrested in Computer Crime Scandal", "Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering"...
        Damn kids. They're all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950's technobrain,
ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker? Did you ever wonder what
made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?
I am a hacker, enter my world...
Mine is a world that begins with school... I'm smarter than most of
the other kids, this crap they teach us bores me...
        Damn underachiever. They're all alike.

I'm in junior high or high school. I've listened to teachers explain
for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. "No, Ms.
Smith, I didn't show my work. I did it in my head..."
Damn kid. Probably copied it. They're all alike.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is
cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I
screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me...
                Or feels threatened by me...
Or thinks I'm a smart ass...
Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...
Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike.

And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through
the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is
sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board is
found.
"This is it... this is where I belong..."
I know everyone here... even if I've never met them, never talked to
them, may never hear from them again... I know you all...
Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They're all alike...

You bet your ass we're all alike... we've been spoon-fed baby food at
school when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip
through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, or
ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us will-
ing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the
beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying
for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and
you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek
after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color,
without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals.
You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us
and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is
that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.
My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me
for.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual,
but you can't stop us all... after all, we're all alike.

                               +++The Mentor+++

Simple Batch Matrix Animations Programming

I found this silly trick when I tried all "dir" command in the Command Prompt.

This will make random texts matrix that actually lists all files and folders from the root drive C: without breaks... until all files and folders have been listed. If you have installed many programs on drive C:, so the listings matrix will take approximately 3 hours to complete its job.

Here are the steps :
1. Open Command Prompt, wide open using Alt+Enter.

if you're a noob, you can follow this step-by-step instruction:
1. Press Windows + R
2. Type "cmd" (without quotes) then enter

2. Press the key combination Alt+Enter (the screen should bring the cmd window fullscreen, as classic as MSDOS.. Nostalgic.. :D)
4. Type "cd .." (without quotes) then enter
5. Repeat step no. 4 until you've reached the root folder "C: \"
6. Type in "dir /a /s" (without quotes again...)
7. Press enter
8. The Matrix appears...

What does all above means :

The command "dir" calls functions to display the list of files and folders in active directory. (In this case active folder is "C: \"
Parameter "/a" is added to show all files on drive "C:\". All kinds of attributes including read only, hidden, archived and system files and folders will be displayed without exception.
The parameter "/s" used to display the all files in directory and all files on it's subdirectory until the last folder and files.

If you want to see all parameters of "dir" command, type "dir /?"

You can make a simple batch program by typing codes with extension "*. bat" and send them to your friends (of course this is for noobs, :p)
1. Open notepad
2. Type in notepad:

=#ONF=
@ cls
@ echo off
echo Please stand by and do not use your keyboard or mouse at this time because we cannot take severe responsibility if the program crash.
@ pause
@ dir c:\ /a /s
echo Enjoyed the show?
@ pause
exit
=#EOF=

Explanation of code:

@=hide command name followed by "@" while running the command console (but the command behind is still running)

cls=to clear the console screen

echo off=turning off "@echo" (so "echo" commands didn't needed to be added by "@" again before, equals to add "@" in front of all "echo")

echo=to show quotes behind the "echo" command (form:"echo (data)")

pause=to pause the command console batch file operational for a while (press spacebar to continue to the next code of batch file operational)

dir=(I have explain it before, try to find it, with the paramaters)

exit=exits command console window and closing batch file proccess from Command Prompt.

3. Save the file with the name "Matrix.bat" (without quotation) and the extension / file type "all files"
or
Save with the name "Matrix.bat" (this time with the quotes) and leave the extension "text files".

4. "Matrix" is ready to be sent to noobs and watch them got mad!

Multitasking Syndrome?

The popularity of "doing multiple work/activities while at the same time" / Multitasking symptoms which sometime ago to be welcomed warmly by IT world now were loose and not famous anymore. Indeed, multitasking seems to have been expanded, according to Linda Stone, Apple and Microsoft former researcher said, these symptoms are now on the epidemic level. Concern was shown by young generation as the "digital generation". With the stimulations of mobile phones, iPod and media players, laptops, internet connection, which is ongoing, and will cause indifference when they are 25-30 years later. As an example when a family is together in one place, they may more tend busy with their own gadgets rather than interact with each other. This problem can be called as "loss of attention syndrome" (attention deficiency syndrome / ADS) Causes individuals who are not careful of the surrounding environment, including when a member or close friend near their self.

What are your opinions?
